Questions
Can mages resist mind effecting Gifts with mind countermagick?
A gift may only be resisted if it directly affects the mage. Gifts that affect the garou, or the vicinity cannot be countered. Gifts are countered by the sphere that is appropriate to the gift's effect. Gifts that affect the mind can be countered with Mind. Those that affect the body can be countered with Life, etc. If there is any question about what sphere is affected by a particular gift, consult a member of Mage Staff.
Can Mages be Kinfolk?
Yes.
Can Garou become mages?
No.
Is Quintessence the same as Gnosis?
No, they are not interchangable, nor can gnosis be stolen with a Prime
3 effect.
Can a mage use a Fetish?
Yes, however, a vulgar Spirit 3 effect is necessary. Roll Arete vs a
difficulty of 7 or 8, depending on whether there are witnesses or not.
The number of successes necessary depends on the Gnosis of the Fetish:
Gnosis 1-3: One success needed, Gnosis 4-6: Two successes needed, Gnosis
7-9: Three successes needed, and Gnosis 10: Four successes needed. Of
course, the mage would need to know that he is holding a fetish in the
first place, and have some knowledge of what a fetish is. (ie Garou_Lore)
Can a Garou use a mage's Talisman?
Yes, but only if the talisman has a physical trigger, and does not require magickal activation. In addition, it must use Quintessence from its own supply to fuel the effect. Gnosis is useless to try to activate a talisman.
Do kinfolk count as 'witnesses' for vulgar effects?
Yes, unless they are capable of using Gifts. gift using Kinfolk are 'aware'.
Can Mother's Touch be used in Conjunction with Life magick to heal?
They can't be used together, however, they can be used successively.
However, by the way which Life magick works, the Mother's Touch gift
would have to be used >AFTER< the Life Magick Healing. If Mother's Touch
is used first, the Life Magick can't work. Note: Neither Mother's Touch
nor life magick can heal damage incurred to a mage from Paradox Backlash
and/or Pattern Leakage.
Are mages affected by Delirium?
No, but they do still experience some degree of instinctual fear in the presence of a
Crinos Garou.
Can caerns be used as Nodes, and vice Versa?
Caerns are highly specialized nodes, and both work to reduce magick
difficulties, and reduce the Gauntlet rating. See 'news nodes as caerns'
for more information.
Does a Mage with Entropy Magick show up as 'Wyrmy' to Sense Wyrm?
If a mage's Entropy rating is 3 or more, they appear tinged with Wyrm. Note: this does not mean that they are 'Wyrmy', just that an entropy mage and a Wyrmling have a very similar 'scent' that is difficult to tell apart.
This may be drowned out, however, by the presence of a stronger emanation,
or if the area itself is more strongly tainted.
Can a mage create silver with matter magick to harm a Garou?
Magickally altered silver (silver given the strength of steel, or the weight of aluminum, for example) causes Aggravated damage to a Garou, but the
Garou can soak this damage. Only natural silver is unsoakable to a Garou. If a mage creates pure silver with magick, this is 'natural' silver, and is still unsoakable.
How can a Garou resist magick?
Garou resist magick as any other awakened being. They get no special
advantage or disadvantage.
Can a mage use Mind Magick to incite frenzy in a Garou?
Yes, but why would he want to?
Can a mage use Mind Magick to stop a garou's Frenzy?
Yes, but it's not easy. It is a Mind 2 effect, and can be
coincidental, depending on how the mage attempts to calm the Garou. The
mage will need to exceed the number of successes that the garou made on
the rage roll to go into frenzy in order to calm him. Considering the
innate nastiness of a frenzying Garou, extra time is highly unlikely,
and odds are good that the mage will be a bit distracted. (for the 1-3
point difficulty penatly, depending on how threatened the mage is at the
time of casting.)
